Quick tips to help your back feel better

Is your back tight, stiff or painful after sitting? Making a few modifications to your work or activity schedule can bring some relief.

The “teapot“ stretch is a favorite of mine for the low back and side of the torso.

Place one hand on your hip “here is your handle” and your other arm up in the air towards the ceiling “here is your spout”. Lean sideways to “tip me over and pour me out”. Make sure to do both sides, and hold the stretch for 30-45 seconds.

Bonus points for singing the song or humming the “Jeopardy” theme song while you do this to help activate your vagus nerve, and give your nervous system a boost.

I highly recommend getting a standing desk, or using a makeshift one with books, crates or boxes to get more blood flow, muscle activation and improve your posture.
